We all grew up watching the Pokemon anime, reading it's mangas and playing it's games. Pokemon video games were developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo as a part of Pokemon media franchise. They released the first game designed for game boy in 1996, the main series of RPGs has continued on each generation of Nintendo's handhelds.
Till date more than 300 million Pokemon games have been sold worldwide, across 76 titles, making Pokemon the second most-selling video games franchise after Mario series.
First Generation
In 1996 the pokemon series began with the release of Pocket Monsters Red and Green for Game Boy in Japan. As the popularity rose, an enhanced Blue version was released sometime later. The collection was renamed as Pokemon Red and Blue for it's international release. There was also a green version, which was never released outside Japan. the first colour version came with the name Pokemon yellow which was released for Game Boy colour.The first generation of games introduced the original 151 species of Pokemons, as well as the basic concept of capturing, training, dueling and trading Pokemons with both computer and players. These games were all based on the fictional region of Kanto.
